Travel & Stay

Getting to Beaver Creek

Air Travel

We recommend flying into Denver International Airport (DEN) or Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE). Beaver Creek is about a 2.5 hour drive from Denver* and about a 20 minute drive from Eagle County Regional Airport.

*I-70 can be very unpredictable in terms of traffic, construction, and weather so please buffer in extra time for the drive.

Airport Transportation

Your options from the airport to Beaver Creek are either renting a car (or carpooling) or taking Epic Mountain express. If you wish to book a shuttle to and from either airport instead, consider taking the Epic Mountain Express. Please call reservations at (970) 754-7433. You can call any day of the week between 8am-5pm MT. Refer to the group code SBCCAU25 or the group name Boyd/Coughlin Wedding for a discounted rate.

Around Beaver Creek

Ride share apps such as Uber and Lyft are limited and unreliable in the Beaver Creek area. However, it is still easy to get around! If you are staying in the village, you will be within walking distance to most shops and restaurants. All of our wedding events will be hosted on the mountain, so once you’re in Beaver Creek, you won’t need to drive yourself around.

On-demand, complimentary shuttle services are available throughout the entire resort between 7am to midnight daily. You must download the "Village Connect” app to book a ride. Please note, these shuttles can take you to Centennial Station where you will board/depart the Wedding shuttles, but they cannot take you to/from the venue site.

Lodging

While all of our wedding events will take place within Beaver Creek Village, there are a number of great options for lodging on and off the mountain. The ones listed below are just a few of our favorites & what we find to be the most convenient to the weekend's festivities. You can also check out Airbnb, VRBO, and Beaver Creek's website for rental properties if you'd like more space.

Discounted Beaver Creek Properties

We are happy to offer our guests 20% off Beaver Creek owned & operated properties. Guests should call (855) 947-0439. This is a reservation line dedicated to making reservations for group guests. Please refer to the group code: SBCCAU25 or the group name: Boyd/Coughlin Wedding.

FAQs

  • A rental car is optional if you are staying in Beaver Creek as most things are within walking distance and there are complimentary shuttles available on demand. Please note, that you must download the "Village Connect" app to book a ride.

However, if you would like to drive to and from the airport or do sightseeing outside the village, a car is recommended. Ubers and Lyfts are extremely limited in the area.

  • Summers in Colorado are typically sunny with clear skies! Expect warm days (temperatures range from the 70s up to the 80s) and cooler nights (temperatures will usually be in the 60s). When visiting the mountains, it is recommended to dress in layers as the weather can change quickly, especially in the afternoon. Quickly passing afternoon rain showers are not uncommon.

We recommend bringing your hiking shoes and taking advantage of the beautiful summer wildflowers that will be on display this time of year.

  • Beaver Creek sits at about 8,000 feet above sea level. Altitude may or may not affect you, but hydration is incredibly important. If you are having trouble getting acclimated, you can buy oxygen cans around the village and many of the hotel spas will have oxygen bars. You can also coordinate for oxygen delivery or a personal IV to come to your hotel in advance. Check with your doctor if you are concerned about altitude sickness; there are medications available that can prevent it.

  • We recognize that Colorado is a tough place to get to, and we’re so grateful if you consider making the trek out West! While our wedding activities will be concentrated on Friday and Saturday, we highly encourage you to extend your trip and have an adventure outside of our event if possible. Colorado in the summertime is our absolute favorite place, and you deserve a vacation.

  • Why the hell not! Sam’s family has been coming out to Beaver Creek for over 30 years. While she grew up on these slopes, it’s also played an important part in fostering her relationship with William. Since they started dating, Sam & William have spent at least a month each year out West skiing and getting to know each other’s friends on ski trips. When William proposed at Piney Lake last summer, we recognized our wedding as an opportunity to share this special place with the most important people in our lives.

Activities

Hiking

August is the perfect time for hiking in Beaver Creek. Our favorite hike is up to Beaver Lake, but there are a myriad of shorter trails if 6.6 miles is a bit daunting gearing up to our reception’s dance floor… Alternatively, the gondola runs daily from Beaver Creek Village in the summer. This is a great way to check out the mountain views and see the blooming wildflowers.

Outside of the resort, Booth Falls is a nice trailhead with waterfalls and aspen forests, and Piney Lake* is the beautiful spot where we got engaged—featured in pictures all over this website.

*Please note, the drive to Piney Lake is rather horrendous and Sam’s mom would highly recommend against the outing. But we think it’s worth it. :)

Adventure Sports

There’s so many activities available in the summer, and many of them can be booked through the resort. We’d love to catch you on a trail-ride on horseback or cruising down the slopes on a mountain bike.

There are also some great local businesses that arrange fly fishing excursions, white water rafting, and ATV tours. We’ve had a great time with the companies we linked, but there are dozens of outfitters in Avon and Vail.

Golfing

The Beaver Creek Golf Club, nestled against the slopes of the mountain, is exclusively available to Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead lodging guests and Beaver Creek Club Members. Book a Tee Time or call (970) 754-5775 for more information. There are other courses in the Vail/Edwards area if you find this to be unavailable.

Exploring Vail Village

Vail Village is a beautiful pedestrian village with tons of amazing shops and dining options. Vail is a short 10 minute drive from Beaver Creek. There is a bowling alley (Bol), late night bars, gondola, and Sunday Farmer's Market and Art Show. We highly recommend driving to see Vail if you have an extra day or rental car.

Some Vail restaurant favorites are Vintage, Alpenrose, Sweet Basil, Matsuhisa, Two Arrows Coffee Bar, Mountain Standard, and Chasing Rabbits.

Venture Out Further…

If you have a little extra time, we’d highly recommend visiting some of the nearby mountain towns. Soak up some relaxation at the mineral pools in Glenwood Springs, or visit Leadville—an old mining town & the highest incorporated municipal city in the USA.
